Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Vera mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Licensed Application End User License Agreement

The App is licensed, not sold, to you. This license is subject to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("EULA"), the terms of which are incorporated herein by reference. You may review the Apple EULA at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.

In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA, these Terms shall govern solely with respect to the conflict, except where prohibited by Apple's policies.

3. Description of Service

Vera provides bottled water analysis by compiling publicly available data, independent lab results, and research from established health and environmental organizations. The App allows you to:

  • Scan bottled water products via barcode or photo recognition
  • View mineral composition, pH levels, TDS, and contaminant reports
  • Access a Purity Index score from 0 to 100 for each product
  • Review source location and vessel type information
  • Track your scan history and compare products

4. Scope of License

4.1 Grant of License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.

4.2 Restrictions

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or sublicense the App or its content
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except as permitted by applicable law
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices in the App
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
  • Scrape, harvest, or extract data from the App in bulk by automated means

5. Accuracy & Disclaimer

Vera compiles water quality data from multiple sources including public filings, independent laboratories, and automated deep research powered by large language models. While we strive for accuracy:

  • Purity reports are informational only and should not be considered medical, health, or safety advice.
  • Automated reports leverage LLMs to conduct deep research but may not always be accurate. Check a product's verified status if you're unsure.
  • Data may not reflect real-time changes in a product's formulation, sourcing, or manufacturing.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  1. Use the App in a way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our servers or networks
  2. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its related systems
  3. Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent reports or feedback
  4. Use any information obtained from the App to harass, defame, or harm any person or brand

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the App — including but not limited to the Purity Index algorithm, water quality database, UI design, text, graphics, logos, and software — are owned by Vera and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, and other intellectual property laws.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL VERA, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Vera and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your use of the App or your violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your license to use the App is immediately revoked.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.

12. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
